The aim of vocational training, or the Senior Non-Commissioned Officers basic course, is to prepare first-level Senior Non-Commissioned Officers of the Estonian Defence Forces and the Estonian Defence League to perform the duties of a peacetime squad leader and wartime company sergeant/battery sergeant. During the course of study, the military professional functions of technician, teacher, administrator, and leader are developed, military leadership skills are honed, and the development of general competencies at level 5 of the vocational education standard is supported.
After completing their basic studies, students can specialize in infantry, armored infantry, engineering, indirect fire, air defence, logistics, communications, or naval warfare through elective courses. The specialization module comprises 42 ECTS credits.
